The Fountain Project was originally formed in June 2001 and became incorporated and non-profited in 2005. The Fountain Project Foundation, Inc. is a group of volunteers from Eastern and Western traditions of medicine. They take one Sunday every other month to go to a monastery in Northern California and provide to the local residents, the nuns and monks, and students from grades K through 12. These residents usually have no medical insurance and do not receive welfare assistance. We treat anyone who comes to seek medical services. We are currently seeking partnership with other communities to expand our medical and health education outreach.
The volunteer group usually consists of medical doctors, chiropractors, surgeons, optometrists, dentists, physical therapists, exercise instructors, massage therapists, nurses, medical assistants, acupuncturists, acupressure therapist and herbalists. These volunteers not only treat illnesses, but also educate the community on preventative care and general well being.
Concurrent with the medical services, another group of volunteers goes to the community to lend assistance to repair work on the buildings and grounds.
The Fountain Project Foundation is looking in the future to start a healing and retreat center for everyone to be able to go and relax, exercise, meditate, and to rid the body of stress and illness. The Retreat Center will be built in the style of a traditional Chinese four sided courtyard house with a large practice hall, meditation area, dormitories for men and women, and a treatment center to enhance our medical outreach.
